Lane County now has 44 confirmed cases of COVID-19, as of today.

Public Health spokesman Jason Davis adds six people are currently hospitalized, while 13 others have been deemed recovered, which  includes a 70-year old woman.

"She was actually on a ventilator, in pretty tough shape," says Davis.  "And she has now moved off the ventilator and in fact, just yesterday, went home.

"So that is a huge victory, and those are the things that we want to celebrate, and those are the things that give us hope.”

Lane County has only one confirmed death from the novel coronavirus, so far.  23 county residents are sick at home.

More than 1,500 Lane County residents have been tested for the virus. Public health officials say the actual number of tests may be higher, since private labs don't always notify the county of negative test results.
