Since Oregon started tracking COVID-19 vaccine rates, Douglas County health officials have expressed concern about discrepancies between state and federal vaccination reporting.

Now, Federal COVID-19 vaccination data appears to validate what the county has stated from the start. Vaccines that were administered at federal health care facilities-- like the Veterans Administration and tribal health care departments-- were reported to the feds but NOT entered into Oregon’s ALERT system.

The federal report shows Douglas County had provided 14,642 doses previously uncounted by the state. When added in, this puts their single dose vaccination rate at 72.5% for residents 18 and older. Before the data was adjusted, Douglas County was ranked as one of the lowest vaccinated counties in Oregon.
