KLCC 2023 Mid-Year Impact

Spring 2023 Highlights

KLCC Newsroom Expansion

This spring our newsroom has evolved and grown! In March we named Chris Lehman as KLCC's News Director. CHris is a familiar face at KLCC, as he joined the news team in 2018. To this position he brings over two decades of reporting experience.

In February, Jill Burke joined the KLCC news team as our Arts & Culture Reporter, and in May we welcomed Rachael McDonald back to the air waves as a reporter and our afternoon host of All Things Considered.

Awards & Recognition

The Radio, Television, Digital News Association announced in May that KLCC was recognized with five awards. For the fifth consecutive year, KLCC won Overall Excellence in the Small Market Radio Division for Region 1,

The individual honors included Brian Bull winning in the “Investigative Reporting” and "Breaking News Coverage" categories. Bull also received the award for Excellence in Writing.

KLCC's Love Cross won the award in the “Best Newscast” category.

KLCC has continued to cover wildfire prevention, mitigation, and recovery efforts. Whether informing you about housing aid for Holiday Farm fire victims, wildfire risk reduction, or the fact that the Oregon Department of Forestry dropped its firefighter insurance, KLCC has been a critical resource for Oregonians wanting to stay in the know about wildfires.
Families face unique challenges as we navigate the pandemic, education, etc. Keeping our communities' families informed is a top priority, and KLCC's news team has reported on issues related to child care availability, the closure of midwifery centers, talented and gifted school programs, and providing kid-friendly environments in courthouses.
