All Oregonians 16 and older are now eligible to sign up for a COVID-19 vaccine. Lane County Public Health is geared up to reach the late teen population with mass vax clinics this weekend. School districts are also scheduling to vaccinate students.
Lane County Public Health spokesperson Jason Davis said 3,200 doses will be administered at a vax clinic at Lane Community College over the weekend.
“These will be Pfizer doses," he said, "and it’s our hope that as many 16 and 17-year olds- who are not being offered the vaccine directly at school- will take advantage of this opportunity. This is a safe vaccine for them.”
Davis said Public Health has been doing outreach with the Mapleton and Siuslaw school districts and will hold a vax clinic in Florence with 1,000 doses ready to administer to 16 and 17 year olds.
Eugene 4-J is partnering with community providers to give vaccines to students. They had a clinic Tuesday at Venue 252 in downtown Eugene.
The Bethel School District has begun scheduling eligible students for vaccinations at the end of the month.
