Last night, the BIPOC Liberation Collective gathered to peacefully protest Eugene city council's planned budget for the police department, which was decided upon on Monday night.
Using pots, pans, and other noisemakers to boost their volume, a group of nearly 200 protesters dressed in black clothing marched to Eugene Mayor Lucy Vinis' house. Leaders urged her to answer community members' questions about plans regarding the police force.
Though protesters were unhappy with Vinis' responses to questioning, the presence of police gathering down the street at 11PM signaled the end of the march. Leaders urged protesters to watch for officers following them home before disbanding the group for the night.
