The request comes after PeaceHealth announced it would end its decades long relationship with Eugene Emergency Physicians in favor of Apollo MD, a Georgia based staffing company.

More than 150 healthcare workers, elected officials, and community members rallied in front of RiverBend Medical Center in Springfield on Thursday to oppose PeaceHealth’s plan to outsource its local ER doctors.

ApolloMD, the Georgia-based company recently hired by PeaceHealth to staff its Lane County hospital emergency departments, has responded to a request for information from Oregon lawmakers. But, according to the Oregon House Majority Leader, the company’s responses have raised more questions than answers.

Two representatives of Eugene Emergency Physicians went before an Oregon Senate Committee in Salem Thursday, to address issues related to emergency department staffing changes in Lane County.

In an unprecedented move, the Medical Staff of PeaceHealth Oregon have officially voted no confidence in their hospital leadership.

An emergency meeting of all medical staff was held Wednesday night—where an informal vote of no confidence in PeaceHealth leadership was unanimous.

A locally based group of doctors who staff PeaceHealth’s emergency departments has issued an open letter to the community.

The local, physician-owned group, Eugene Emergency Physicians, has said, “no to Apollo MD.”

PeaceHealth will end its 35-year contract with Eugene Emergency Physicians and replace the local group with Atlanta-based ApolloMD to staff ERs in Springfield, Florence, and Cottage Grove. Local doctors cite rising wait times and worsening conditions at RiverBend. All 41 EEP providers have signed an agreement refusing to work for ApolloMD after June 30.

For decades, PeaceHealth Oregon has contracted with the local group, Eugene Emergency Physicians, to staff its emergency departments. Come June, that contract will not be renewed. Instead, the hospital system has chosen Atlanta-based ApolloMD as its emergency medicine partner in Springfield, Florence and Cottage Grove.
