Porthole Players Theater Company presents Roald Dahl's Matilda the Musical at the Newport Performing Arts Center. The stage musical will be performed with a live orchestra on the Alice Silverman Stage for three weekends from Nov. 17th to Dec. 3rd. Select a live performance November 17, 18, 24, 25, Dec. 1, & 2 at 7:00 p.m. OR Nov. 19, 26 & Dec. 3 at 2:00 p.m. for a Sunday matinee.

"Matilda" is a lively show based on the 1988 novel by Roald Dahl with music and lyrics by Tim Minchin and a book by Dennis Kelly. The musical's narrative centers on Matilda Wormwood, a precocious young girl who loves reading and has the gift of telekinesis. Matilda is faced with overcoming obstacles caused by her family and school, and helps Miss Honey her doting teacher, to reclaim her life. In addition, standing in Matilda’s way is the overbearing headmistress, Miss Trunchbull. Directed by Jennifer Van Bruggen Hamilton and performed by a talented cast of adults and youth.
