A big turn-out is expected for the Oregon Medical Marijuana Business Conference in Eugene. Anthony Johnson is organizing the event this Sunday and Monday. He says the conference is a place for entrepreneurs to learn about business opportunities. He says those extend beyond growing and selling marijuana. Johnson hopes to help professionalize the business.
Johnson: "Time will show that the marijuana industry creates jobs, generates revenue for the state and does not cause the problems that a lot of marijuana opponents like to claim. For instance, crime rate does not go up because of medical marijuana facilities."
Florence and Medford have placed moratoriums on medical marijuana dispensaries, and other cities and counties may follow.
Johnson says this will be a hot topic at the conference. A recent Medical Marijuana Business Conference in Ashland was sold out. The Eugene event is Sunday and Monday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Eugene Hilton. Tickets are required.
