Eugene School Board Selects Jim Torrey to Fill Vacancy

After starting with 15 potential candidates, the Eugene School Board has selected Jim Torrey to fill a vacancy in Position 6.

The three finalists were Gary Campbell, Maya Rabasa and Torrey. After two rounds of voting in the public board meeting Thursday evening, the former Eugene mayor was selected for appointment and took the oath of office.

Torrey, who previously served on the board from 2007 to this past June, will serve in Position 6 through June 2021, to complete the term vacated when a former board member moved out of state.
