It was announced today (Thursday) two new cases of COVID-19 have been identified in Lane County. That makes a total of 50 confirmed cases of the virus, including one death.
Public Health spokesman Jason Davis says the first new case, a woman in her 40’s, was identified through an epidemiological link- or contact tracing.
“This person works at an office, a small office where we identified an initial case and we were able to identity another case. In that circumstance where we’re seeing multiple cases the recommendation is really is to test everyone. So this person was identified through that testing process so really a success story in terms of contact tracing.”
The second new case is a woman in her 70’s in the Springfield area. She is recovering at home.
Davis says Public Health updating their website with the seven criteria to be considered before re-opening Lane County. Some of those conditions are adequate personal protective equipment and sufficient testing countywide.
