Lane County renters who have lost income or have had health effects related to COVID-19 could be eligible for some help. Wednesday morning, applications for rent assistance will be available on the county's website.
A total of $930,000 has been made available through Oregon’s COVID-19 Rent Relief Program. The funding is meant for Lane County residents with an active lease--to assist with rent, back rent, manufactured home rental space or housing relocation assistance.
There are some income requirements. (For example, a family of four with a maximum gross income of $35,000 per year would be eligible.) Lane County spokesperson Devon Ashbridge:
“With this first round, our goal is to get that out and into the hands of landlords and property owners so that people are able to stay in their homes without interruption.”
Eligible households will be served on a first-come, first-served basis to cover expenses incurred from April 1, 2020 to present. Applications for rent assistance will be available at 10 a.m., Wednesday, June 3.
