Eugene Owned PakTech Expands to Cottage Grove
Eugene owned PakTech will be expanding its business operations to Cottage Grove starting in December. The plastic handle creator bought the former Kwikee building for $2.5 million.
The expansion to the area is projected to bring in over 100 jobs, with the possibility of closer to 200 over time.
Cottage Grove City Manager Richard Meyers says they need the warehouse jobs and that it’s nice to get new ones in the community.
“Especially these manufacturing jobs that are skilled and semi-skilled workers," says Meyers. "They pay a good wage and can help members of the community actually have a good paying job that gives them the skills or and uses the skills they have.”
Emerald People’s Utility District and the City of Cottage Grove are working together to make improvements to the facility to meet PakTech’s needs.
This has included updating the building’s infrastructure. Meyers says EPUD’s investment will help more than just PakTech.
“That, in turn, will benefit the hospital, it will benefit the existing businesses and it will benefit the community that we have the capacity for new jobs and new businesses to come in," says Meyers.
The company will operate on a limited basis until after December.
