Bernie Sanders supporters made their frustration known on the first day of the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia. Even when Sanders spoke, he received boos when he pledged his support for Hillary Clinton.
Matt Keating of Eugene is a pledged Bernie delegate. But he says he treated all the speakers with respect Monday. Speaking from the convention center Tuesday, he says this election isn’t about any one person.
Keating: “It’s not about Hillary or Trump or Bernie. It’s about the issues that matter most to us as Americans. And Bernie’s bold. And Bernie’s going to keep fighting this good fight. And I’m going to keep fighting this good fight. And millions of Sanders supporters are going to keep advocating for progressive reform. But Bernie is such a man of integrity. I am honored to stand with Bernie and Bernie’s standing with her. And I’m with them.
Still, Keating says, at the roll call vote tonight, he will vote for Senator Sanders. But in the general election, he says he’ll support the democratic nominee.
