Members of Oregon’s congressional delegation mark January 6 anniversary

Members of Oregon’s congressional delegation offered their thoughts on the one-year anniversary of the insurrection at the US Capitol.

Sen. Ron Wyden, a Democrat, spoke on the floor of the US Senate Thursday. He said the events of last January weren’t the end of efforts to subvert the American political system.

“Donald Trump didn’t exactly walk quietly off into the sunset after the Biden inauguration," he said. "The effort to undermine our democracy, to end free and fair elections in America, goes on as we speak.”

Rep. Peter DeFazio, D-Springfield, said he thinks the investigation into the attack could end up with charges against the former president.

“Minimally, dereliction of duty, if not something even more serious, in terms of incitement or attempt to overthrow our democracy.”

DeFazio spoke on “Think Out Loud” on KLCC and OPB.
