The Beachie Creek Fire, burning east of Salem, is currently 188,935 acres, with a total of 563 personnel working on the fire, as of Sunday afternoon.
Fire officials say crews will begin mopping up and assess damage to affected structures. Crews and heavy equipment are expected to tie pieces of existing control line together on the west and northwest portions of the fire. Line construction and reinforcement efforts will also continue.
The Beachie Creek Fire and the Riverside Fire remain about one mile apart. Officials said despite the rumors, a merger of the two fires is not imminent. However they said the two fires could still burn together given a number of factors including the current combination of winds, record dry forests, and a lack of natural holding features in the Table Rock Wilderness.
