Lane Community College has received an $89,000 grant towards providing dental care for people with HIV.
LCC has worked with HIV Alliance for fifteen years, and is contracted to provide fillings, crowns, dentures, and more services to over 220 patients.
LCC’s Dental Clinic Coordinator Nadine Batya said many long-term HIV survivors are aging.
“…and they’re seeing some of the health challenges that come along with that, including dentistry. So it’s a unique relationship that the LCC dental clinic has been able to offer Oregonians. We see people traveling from across the whole state to take advantage of that incredible resource.”
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services issues the grants. The goal is to help institutions with accredited dental programs cover costs from providing care to HIV patients.
