A Eugene couple recently unearthed a treasure deep in their crawl space. It wasn’t jewels or gold bars—but a trove of iconic magazines they’d nearly forgotten they saved.

“Long Live The Grateful Dead”!  The sentiment is still kept alive by Deadheads through shared music and memories.  As a member of the band’s extended family in the 1980’s and ‘90’s, Susana Millman had an insider’s access to take pictures.  Her recently released book is called “Alive with the Dead or A Fly on the Wall with a Camera”.

This Halloween marks an auspicious occasion: the 50th anniversary of the Acid Test Graduation. The acid tests were a series of psychedelic parties held in the mid 1960’s and hosted by author and Oregon son Ken Kesey with his Merry Band of Pranksters. KLCC’s Tiffany Eckert caught up with some of the original pranksters as they gear up for an all-night celebration in Eugene this Friday.

A multi-faceted celebration takes place at the WOW Hall in Eugene tonight, April 20th, as David Gans, the Garcia Birthday Band, various Merry Pranksters and others gather to celebrate Oregon’s first legal 4/20, and whatever else feels worth celebrating. David Gans has been a part of related celebrations for decades, as a musician, author, storyteller, and proprietor of the nationally-syndicated Grateful Dead Hour.
