Drivers in Newport could face delays crossing the Yaquina Bay Bridge next week.
The Oregon Department of Transportation is replacing two expansion joints on the north end of the bridge, which carries U.S. Highway 101 and serves as an important link for traffic along the Oregon coast.
The work will require lane closures with traffic controlled by flaggers, starting at 7 p.m. next Monday through Wednesday, and lasting through 6 a.m. the following mornings.
It’s the first of what could be many lane closures over the coming years, as ODOT is beginning a multi-year maintenance and repair project on the bridge.
