Eugene's Kesey Square will be filled with the sound of brass this Friday as local music group Power of Tower plays for the July 6 First Friday ArtWalk.

The band’s name is an inversion of popular funk-rock group Tower of Power, and is a tribute band comprised of local Pacific Northwest musicians.

The Lane Arts Council is featuring the group to continue the City of Eugene’s initiative of bringing public music to the community to energize downtown.

A look at the modern music scene in the Willamette Valley with William Kennedy, the primary music writer for the Eugene Weekly, as well as a writer for several other publications, and a veteran of seventeen years of music retail work. He highlights positive local changes in venues and booking strategies, the success of a cassette-only music label in Eugene, and the role of the Internet in creating national success for the local band This Patch of Sky, which rarely plays in its own town.

Linda Perhacs visits KLCC

Mar 25, 2014

Linda Perhacs recorded an album in 1970 called "Parallelograms". The album got some small notice back then, but Linda went back to her day job as a dental hygienist for about the next 40 years. In the meantime "Parallelograms" slowly developed a cult following, and because of that Linda has just released a new CD called "The soul of All Natural Things".  She visited the KLCC studio to spin a few tunes from her CD, and talk with KLCC arts reporter Eric Alan.
