A Springfield restaurant was fined Wednesday more than $9,000 for defying the state’s COVID-19 restrictions by allowing indoor dining.
Oregon OSHA said Along Came Trudy owner Trudy Logan knew of the public health order that banned indoor dining in Lane County but chose to offer it anyway. The restrictions are in place because the county is in the “Extreme Risk” category designated by the state for areas with widespread COVID-19.
Oregon OSHA says its investigation was launched after multiple complaints, and that the inspection was complicated by the presence of armed people outside the restaurant who threatened government employees.
When reached at the cafe Wednesday afternoon, Logan said she was aware of the fine but hadn’t had the chance to read the details.
"I'm busy working, and we're slammed to the nines," she said.
