As of Thursday Jan.28, nearly 22,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in Lane County. And more than 5,000 individuals have been fully vaccinated.
County spokesperson Jason Davis said during a Jan. 28 Lane County Public Health COVID-19 update, drive-thru clinics have helped the county move through their supply.
“The first clinic we vaccinated roughly 1,670 individuals over two days and then we had the help of the National Guard, as well as some other community partners, and Lane County Search and Rescue," David said, "we were able to get through nearly 6,000 doses in four days and that was the bulk of our vaccine distribution.”
Davis stressed supply is still limited and even if you do qualify for a vaccine you may have to wait until more doses become available. As for those who received their first dose, notice of a second dose will be sent either by their employer, mail, email, or text.
There were 71 new cases of COVID-19 reported, making the total 8,980. The death toll in Lane County since the beginning of the pandemic remains at 113.
