Super Bowl is this Sunday and the message from Lane County Public Health is “please don’t gather with multiple households.”
The county remains in ‘extreme risk’ for transmission of COVID-19. Officials say only about 7,500 county residents have been fully vaccinated against the virus. Social gatherings can be super spreader events.
Spokesperson Jason Davis has a suggestion.
“Make plans for virtual events. There are all sorts of ways the people have utilized technology to be able to enjoy events like concerts and games without having to actually physically travel to folks’ homes.”
Davis adds there will probably be those who insist on gathering for the big game. For them, he advises wearing a mask when not eating or drinking, practice good respiratory hygiene (cover sneezes/coughs and dispose of tissue) and instead of high-fiving with your hands---wash them.
