The Oregon legislative session will likely last well into next week, according to House Speaker Tina Kotek. The Portland Democrat spoke to reporters during a virtual press conference Monday afternoon.
Kotek said lawmakers will likely need to work until close to the constitutionally-mandated deadline of June 27.
“I don’t know when we’re going to finish. We’ll obviously want to do our business right and get it done right," she said. "I just know that some people have said ‘We’ll be done this week.’ That’s completely not happening.”
Lawmakers have already passed hundreds of bills, but budget-writers are still putting the finishing touches on state spending plans for the next two years.
