A Union Pacific train derailed in Eugene Sunday evening at around 5 o’clock. According to Union Pacific Spokesman Justin Jacobs, there were no injuries reported and there was no release of hazardous materials.
13 cars were involved. 10 were empty center beam flat cars. One was an empty grain car, another was loaded with corn. One of the tank cars contained liquified petroleum. The incident occurred at the train yard near Roosevelt and Garfield. Jacobs says the cause of the derailment is still under investigation as of 9 p.m. Sunday.
