A middle-aged man stranded on a bridge pier was rescued tonight by members of the Eugene-Springfield Fire Department.
Personnel got a call about someone trapped underneath the Frohnmayer Footbridge, also known as the Autzen Footbridge. Crews lowered a life jacket and a hot pack to the man with a rope, before water rescue team members used an inflatable boat to reach him.
Medics treated the man on-scene, before he was sent to Riverbend Hospital for further care.
KLCC has inquired how the man came to be stranded, but has not heard back from Eugene Springfield Fire yet.
