2022 World Athletic Championships

The World Athletics Council has chosen Eugene to host its youth track-and-field championships at Hayward Field in 2026.

Eugene’s Downtown Riverfront Park is hosting a free fan festival during the World Athletics Championships. There’s a big screen to watch the live action, food, performances, a kids area and more.

Several events at the World Championships track and field meet Tuesday evening in Eugene didn’t play out according to expectations.

This is the first time a U.S. city will host the world championships. More than 2,000 athletes are expected to participate in the 10-day event from July 15 through 24th.
