As of Sunday, some detainees at the Lane County Jail have been on a hunger strike for a total of 11 weeks. Now, some jail workers may also strike.

Several inmates at the Lane County Jail are into their fifth week of hunger striking. They want better preventative measures to stop the spread of COVID-19, and the release of pre-trial and medically vulnerable detainees.

Wednesday marks the 24th day of a hunger strike by protestors at the Lane County Jail, and inmates say they have not yet seen any progress towards their demands which include better conditions and health care during the COVID-19 pandemic.
