As Tourism Economy Takes Off, The Sky's The Limit For Eugene Airport

It’s been a good year for the Eugene Airport.  On top of landing carriers Southwest Airlines and Avelo Airlines, the facility has also received a $5.5 million grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation.

The money will be used to rebuild the runway and make lighting and taxiway improvements.

Meanwhile, Avelo began its non-stop service to the Hollywood Burbank Airport on Wednesday (May 12).   And Southwest Airlines will begin daily non-stop flights to Las Vegas and Oakland, beginning August 29th.

The news signals what Eugene city leaders and tourism officials hope is a long-awaited rebound from the pandemic’s crippling effects on the travel economy.
