Senator Ron Wyden Wants Stronger Gun Control

Oregon democratic senator, Ron Wyden, wants stronger action on gun control in response to the shootings in El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio.

At a recent town hall meeting in Beaverton, Wyden says residents voiced their concerns over gun violence in the wake of two mass shootings where at least 31 people were killed.

“It’s very clear that Oregonians are tired of meaningless words,” says Wyden. “They want some meaningful action.”

It’s believed the El Paso gunman wrote an online manifesto, describing the attack as a response to the (quote) “Hispanic invasion of Texas.”

Wyden says President Trump has been fanning the flames of white supremacy.

“I think it’s important for public officials, and it all starts at the top, but every public official should make it clear that there’s zero tolerance for that.”

Wyden says he wants airtight background checks for gun purchases, without any loopholes.
