Drain, a small town in Douglas county, lost its grocery store, Ray’s, in January. That left the rural community with a Dollar General and out of town stores as options. One small farm stand is hoping to provide a local, fresh option.

A 52-year old Drain man who was reported missing has been found safe.

The location was one of the only locations in the town where residents could buy groceries and produce.

An 89-year old Drain man died in a crash early Wednesday morning on Elkhead Road.

U.S. Bank announced plans to close two branches in Oregon, both of which are the lone in-person banking option for rural residents. The closest bank branches for Drain residents will now be in Cottage Grove. Mill City will also be without a bank.
