Oregon State has fired coach Trent Bray after the team fell to 0-7, its worst start since 1991. Athletic director Scott Barnes announced the decision on Sunday. Robb Akey will serve as interim head coach for the rest of the season while a national search for Bray's successor is conducted. Barnes expressed gratitude for Bray's dedication but cited unacceptable on-field results as the reason for the change. The decision followed a 39-14 loss to Wake Forest on Saturday. The school said Bray’s contract buyout will be covered by donor-generated funds.

Ethan Sanchez nailed a 24-yard OT field goal as Houston rallied past Oregon State 27-24, improving to 4-0 for the first time since 2016. Conner Weigman threw for 270 yards and two late TDs in the Cougars' comeback win.

Behren Morton threw four touchdown passes, J’Koby Williams had a scoring catch and a run and and No. 21 Texas Tech beat Oregon State 45-14 on Saturday night in a weather-delayed game.

The teams used to be foes in the Pac-12, but Cal bolted for the ACC. The Beavers are playing as an independent this season before the revival of a new-look Pac-12 next season.

Saturday is opening day for area college football, and both the Beavers and the Ducks have home games.

The Bears, who entered the game having dropped their last four games by a combined nine points, left little doubt about the outcome.

Hajj-Malik Williams accounted for three touchdowns, Caden Chittenden kicked field goals of 20, 34, 34 and 29 yards and UNLV beat Oregon State 33-25. Williams was 15-of-27 passing for 196 yards and a touchdown and added 65 yards rushing and two TDs on 13 carries. Ricky White III had nine receptions for 88 yards, including a 22-yard touchdown that made it 33-17 with 4:53 to play. Gevani McCoy scored on second-quarter runs of 1 and 71 yards to give Oregon State (4-3) a 17-6 lead.

Savion Red ran for four touchdowns Saturday night, Kitan Crawford returned an interception 57 yards for a touchdown and quarterback Brendon Lewis ran for a 67-yard TD as part of a wild fourth quarter and Nevada held on to beat Oregon State 42-37.

This weekend is a first-ever matchup of top-five football teams at Autzen Stadium, with the No. 3 Ducks facing the No. 2 Ohio State Buckeyes.

Number 6 Oregon routed Cal yesterday 63-19.
