A project to restore wildlife habitat on the Willamette River near Eugene has reached a milestone.  Non-profit groups collaborated on Turtle Flats to reconnect 21 former gravel ponds.

Landowners, small farmers and urban park enthusiasts exercised their First Amendment rights today (Wednesday) with a march on Springfield City Hall. They want the city to immediately abandon plans to place an industrial zone near the entrance to one of the largest urban parks in the world…Buford Park. If you see smoke coming from the northwest corner of Howard Buford Recreation Area —do not panic. Lane County is conducting a prescribed ecological burn-- weather permitting. The plan is to do it this afternoon [Thursday Oct. 2nd.]
