Photography at Oregon’s 47th Annual Exhibit and Auction is nearly upon us! We’ve already received an impressive collection of print donations from noted photographers locally and nationally. So far, contributions include prints from artists such as Christopher Burkett, Christopher Landis, Ken Hawkins and Brian Lanker, as well as outstanding works from many exceptional local and regional artists, such as Michael Z. Taylor, Barbora Bakalarova, Sarah Grew, Walt O’Brien, and Doremus Scudder, just to name a very few.

As in years past, there will be three Auction Exhibits featuring prints from the Online Auction at Dot Dotson's Gallery in Eugene, one each in May, June and July. This year, the online auction and the three exhibits will run concurrently. You can view a select number of photographs at Dot Dotson's each month and view and bid on the entire selection of over 85 photographs online at auctria.events/PAO2025.

The first installment of the PAO Auction Exhibit opens Friday, May 2nd
at Dot Dotson’s Gallery, 1668 Willamette St. Eugene, OR 97401

There will be an Opening Reception from 5-6 p.m., complete with wine and hors d’oeuvres. We hope to see you there.

The exhibit will run all of May, Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. till 1:00 p.m.

The Online Auction itself will be open for bids starting May 1st and continuing through July 31st. The entire selection of photographs will be online.

We are looking forward to an active turnout for the 2025 Auction! Remember, that all auction proceeds go toward promoting and sponsoring photography exhibits and events by PAO, as they have for the past 45 years. Our success is directly due to the generosity of many fine photographers donating work, giving back to the medium we all love, as well as the generosity and commitment of our bidders.

Jeaux Bartlett (they/them or xe/xem) is a writer and teacher living in Eugene, Oregon. Jeaux has published several books and online courses focused on personal growth and their work has appeared in the Register Guard, Lane Monthly, Rochester insider, Crossroads Chronicle, and Nature’s Wisdom amongst other publications.

Sunday evening volunteer host

Heather McBride (she/her) is a content strategist at Adobe but has novelist aspirations. She’s been bookish since birth but got serious about her own writing when teaching composition at U of O.

This is a space where queer and trans people with disabilities can share their day to day frustrations, discuss chosen topics, and share resources and validation. Open to all LGBTQIA people, including trans, nonbinary, questioning, and gender-diverse folks, ages 13+. FREE.

Internationally renowned pianist Awadagin Pratt joins the OBF Chorus and Modern Orchestra for a thrilling and haunting performance of Jessie Montgomery’s Rounds, as well the Vaughan Williams “Dona nobis pacem,” and music from J.S. The Joy of Gardening Conference has something for everyone. Keynote: Garden Future: Dr. Brooke Edmunds and LeAnn Locher. Many of us see firsthand the impact of extreme weather events and climate change in our gardens. To help Oregon’s gardeners, the OSU Master Gardener Program has launched a new statewide climate resilience education and outreach project called Garden Future. Learn about the resources available to support Master Gardener volunteers to lead this project. Over 30 instructors are scheduled to speak on a variety of topics from Drought Tolerant Landscaping and Houseplants to Home Orchards and Lilies. For Fun there will be a Garden Trivia Live with prizes! Join in the fun and test your garden knowledge.

The annual Helvetia Lavender Festival will be held the first two weekends in July: Friday through Sunday. This popular and well-known mid-summer family activity located in the beautiful hills of Helvetia, just off Sunset Highway (Exit 61) draws more than 5,000 participants each year. The weekend activities feature fragrant fields of lavender, vendors, numerous lavender products, lavender oil demonstrations, live music, delicious food, fun activities for kids and much more. Join us for an Old Fashioned Fourth of July Celebration on Friday, July 4th when there will be fun and games for the whole family!

Admission is $10 per adult online or at the entrance gate with no charge for children under 13 years of age or for parking. The festival dates are July 4 -6th and July 11th13t. Friday hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday’s and Sunday’s 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Your admission fee supports Samaritan Ministries, a nonprofit founded by Don Miller in 1993, supporting children, teens and the elderly in war torn Ukraine.
