On Your Barks, Get Set, Go! Alton Baker Park goes to the dogs on Sunday May 18th, when over 1,000 dogs and their people leash up for a 10K, 5K, or 2K run/walk in the park for Greenhill Humane Society's 32nd Annual Bark in the Park. Festivities include the runs and walk, canine activities, vendor booths, food trucks, demonstrations, contests, prizes and more. This annual event draws more than 1,000 people and their pets in celebration of the human-animal bond. Bark in the Park is the largest pet event in the Southern Willamette Valley and one of the largest run/walks in Eugene. Runners can participate as an individual with or without a dog and start or join a team. Plus, your dog is invited and kids 12 and under register free!

Fundraise for the animals! This year the shelter hopes to raise $100,000 to help care for over 5,500 animals in 2025.

Two veteran Oregon photographers--Gary Tepfer of Eugene and Rich Bergeman of Corvallis--are teaming up for an exhibit at White Lotus Gallery featuring color and black-and-white photographs of arid territories from Oregon's High Desert to Asia's Altai Mountains.

Both photographers, working independently, have been exploring desert environments for decades, and while they share a love for the spare elegance of the land, their interpretation of that land offers viewers some engaging contrasts.

Tepfer is known for his striking color images from the American Southwest, Eastern Oregon and the steppes of Mongolia and Siberia, regions he has visited many times over the past four decades. “I want to capture that aspect of the natural world that stands apart from human existence,” Tepfer says. “But the locations to which I am drawn are often the same places that are the most rich in the ritual artifacts of ancient peoples.”

Bergeman, on the other hand, is a black-and-white photographer whose most recent work has focused on that portion of the Great Basin that lies within Oregon, especially remnants of the paleolakes that dot the region.

“I've always wondered about all those 'lakes' I'd see marked on maps that didn't really exist as bodies of water,” he says. “A little research taught me they were footprints of the great inland seas that once covered the area 10,000 years ago. Intrigued, I began to search for them and find ways to dramatize this curious evidence of the past.”

Both photographers have work in several private and public collections and over the years have been published in books and periodicals.

Photography at Oregon’s 47th Annual Exhibit and Auction is nearly upon us! We’ve already received an impressive collection of print donations from noted photographers locally and nationally. So far, contributions include prints from artists such as Christopher Burkett, Christopher Landis, Ken Hawkins and Brian Lanker, as well as outstanding works from many exceptional local and regional artists, such as Michael Z. Taylor, Barbora Bakalarova, Sarah Grew, Walt O’Brien, and Doremus Scudder, just to name a very few.

As in years past, there will be three Auction Exhibits featuring prints from the Online Auction at Dot Dotson's Gallery in Eugene, one each in May, June and July. This year, the online auction and the three exhibits will run concurrently. There will be an Opening Reception from 5-6 p.m., complete with wine and hors d’oeuvres. We hope to see you there.

The exhibit will run all of May, Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. till 1:00 p.m.

The Online Auction itself will be open for bids starting May 1st and continuing through July 31st. The entire selection of photographs will be online.

We are looking forward to an active turnout for the 2025 Auction! Remember, that all auction proceeds go toward promoting and sponsoring photography exhibits and events by PAO, as they have for the past 45 years. Our success is directly due to the generosity of many fine photographers donating work, giving back to the medium we all love, as well as the generosity and commitment of our bidders.

The Sunday Market is a farmers and makers market featuring local food, farms and artisan crafts. Held on the newly remodeled grounds of the Lincoln City Cultural Center in the heart of Lincoln City. Live music each week from 11-1.

The festival opens at 10 AM and closes at 5 PM

Parking at the Arboretum is free on festival day. Parking attendants will direct you to the parking lot that has availability.

Please leave your dogs at home. For the safety and comfort of all, due to crowds, dogs are not permitted at the festival. View our dog policy.
