City parks and other open spaces across the Eugene-Springfield area remain open for visitors. However, officials warn people to be wary as heavy winter storm damage can make local parks and trails hazardous.
A new park, Wild Iris Ridge, will be the newest addition to Eugene’s Ridgeline Trail system. Kelly Darnell with the City of Eugene says there have not been a lot of nature opportunities in the southwest area of town, where the new trail was built.
The Eugene Parks and Open Space Department rang in the New Year by acquiring 100 acres of natural land. The property west of I-5 provides an opportunity for walking trails from Eugene to places like Mount Pisgah.
