A city council proposal could change the name of Washington-Jefferson Park to honor the man who helped create it.

Next summer, the city of Eugene is planning to give the popular Amazon Trail a makeover in time for the 2021 track and field world championships.

City parks and other open spaces across the Eugene-Springfield area remain open for visitors.  However, officials warn people to be wary as heavy winter storm damage can make local parks and trails hazardous.

A Portland non-profit has deemed Eugene’s parks “salmon-safe”, following efforts to improve water quality and habitat in more than 4,500 acres of city park land. KLCC’s Brian Bull reports.

City of Eugene voters will be deciding on parks and recreation funding measures this May. City councilors moved the levy and bond proposals to the ballot Monday night. KLCC’s Deonna Anderson reports.

The Eugene Parks and Open Space Department rang in the New Year by acquiring 100 acres of natural land. The property west of I-5 provides an opportunity for walking trails from Eugene to places like Mount Pisgah.

Eugene has been gathering people's opinions about the city's system of soft trails. Those include hiking, running, mountain biking and even water trails. There are plans to add more.

The popular trail to the summit of Spencer Butte in south Eugene will be closed Thursday. The city is building a new clearly marked trail at the rocky top of the butte.

Crews started work on the new trail last week.
