The Shortcut - Events in Oregon

The Oregon Asian Celebration Art Exhibition is an all-comers community art show celebrating local artists inspired by the arts of Asia. The exhibit is on view from June 25 – July 12, 2026 during museum hours.

Gallery exhibit celebrating Fernridge Lake and its Wetlands, Wildlife and Tributaries is a visual feast displaying artistic interpretations of our rich regional attraction - Willamette Valley's largest reservoir and its natural wonders and wildlife habitat. The opening features local and regional artists Sarkis Antikajian, Margret Plumb, Nik Skoog, Sally Yost, Bob Keefer, Harold Hoy, and guest artist Laura Wingerd. The exhibition will remain through August and is available for viewing every Tuesday from 11-4 or by appointment.

New Zone Events – July 2026

In addition to the eclectic mix of contemporary and traditional art created by the New Zone members, we will be hosting three Featured-Artist special exhibits during the month of July.

Opening Reception: First Friday, July 3rd, from 5:30 – 8:00 during the First Friday Artwalk.

Sarjé Haynes – Shift Happens
“I used to seek change. Now it seeks me.”

"Shift Happens" is dedicated to threshold moments in life. This series is painted using an iterative ink-blotting method. Each piece imperfectly mirrors another in the series, reflecting how one decision can completely change an outcome.

The show features only originals--no prints. A variety of "Mystery Seconds" are offered for budget-conscious collectors.

Corla Bertrand – Soul Stirrings
A Cauldron of Magic and Revelation

This collage presentation bridges the gap between tangible reality and the ethereal landscape of the subconscious mind. It stirs a cauldron of shadow ambivalence and necessary light, geometry and life, tension and wonder. It intentionally creates emotional weight, while giving form to the artist’s nightly dreams and openness to divine revelation.

Alyssa Cody and Kathryn Veiga – Welcome Home
Meet Me in the Underbelly

The Welcome Home exhibit is a series of ceremonies. Using acrylic, pressed flowers, the written word, and other objects that inspire, artists Alyssa Cody and Kathryn Veiga channel the trickster archetype, a conduit for creative processing as they reckon with the grief of loss and the gift of life. For what greater joy is there in life than making art with your friends?

New Zone Gallery is located centrally in downtown Eugene at 110 East 11th on the corner of Oak Street.

McDonald has had a guitar in his hands most of his life. You’ve seen him on American Idol, and the Music on the Halfshell stage. These days he is on the road, making the case for his talent, loud and in person, and we’re excited to have him back with us.

MOTHS was founded in 1992 and has grown to become one of the premier summer music events in the Pacific Northwest. The free series is held on Tuesday evenings at Nichols Band Shell on the Umpqua River in Stewart Park, in beautiful Roseburg.

This year’s line-up of eight shows begins on June 23rd. Each of these family friendly concerts are from 7:00-9:00pm.

For nearly 30 years, Stangeland Family Youth Choral Academy has been a flagship educational and training program for the nation’s most talented high school choral singers. Led by Dr. Anton Armstrong, SFYCA 2026 performs various works including the J.S. Bach Motet, Lobet den Herrn, alle Heiden.

Over the years these two events have grown to the 22 that will be held this year. Roseburg Graffiti Weekend is unique in several ways; each event is the responsibility of a different group, the events take place in various locations throughout the greater Roseburg area, most of the events are free and most of the events are planned for family enjoyment. It is due to the generous support of the local businesses that we have been able to keep Roseburg Graffiti Weekend affordable.
