Eugene, OR – Be part of Eugene’s vibrant art scene during the May 2nd First Friday ArtWalk. Bike to the Farmers Market Pavilion (85 E 8th Ave), where you can pick up your ArtWalk Guide and shop the pop-up Artist Marketplace before exploring the many galleries and arts venues of downtown Eugene from 5:30-8:00pm. The monthly First Friday ArtWalk is presented by Lane Arts Council and is always free.

Farmers Market Pavilion Highlight: Reggae Show, 6:00pm-10:00pm
Programming for May will feature family-friendly reggae concert celebrating multicultural music designed to connect younger generations with foundational elders. Opening the event at 5pm we have Kunu Bearchum from Morning Star Creative kicking off the vibes, followed by an interactive children's reggae show from Grammy-nominated Aaron Nigel Smith, up next we have an energetic performance from Eugene’s very own Michael Leslie, then we welcome the legendary reggae artist Winston "Flames" Jarrett to the stage, with a late night dub showcase by Jubba White closing out the evening. Immerse yourself in the cultural richness of reggae music, honoring its origin & legacy while fostering unity across generations through the power of sound.
May is Bike Month: Lane Arts Council is collaborating with community partners Lane Council of Governments and Shift Community Cycles in Celebration of May is Bike month with some exciting and engaging bike activities. Biking to the event is encouraged.

Gallery Calapooia artists Susan Bourdet with watercolor, and Rachael Oehler with colored pencil, will be presenting their latest work, featuring wildlife and birds.

Light refreshments will be served and all ages are welcome. Gallery Calapooia is in the Historic Flinn Block, located in Historic Downtown Albany. The gallery is handicapped accessible.

Journey back to the vibrant world of 1950s New York with a Golden Age Broadway classic. This 1951 Tony award-winning musical follows the intertwining lives of ambitious gamblers, lovestruck showgirls, and pious missionaries. At the center of the action is a pair of crafty and endearing hustlers. Nathan Detroit and Sky Masterson will bet on just about anything, from a small-time strudel contest to a big-time gamble about love. Sky attempts to woo the strait-laced Sarah Brown, as the colorful characters around them navigate their own romantic entanglements. With toe-tapping songs like “Luck Be a Lady” and “Sit Down, You’re Rockin’ the Boat, Guys and Dolls will dazzle you with its high-stakes blend of humor and heart.

Based on John O'Hara's 1940 epistolary novel of the same name (who also wrote the show's libretto), Richard Rodgers & Lorenz Hart's Pal Joey tells the story of a small time nightclub emcee...a slice of low-life Chicago in the 1940s set to some of the best songs of the decade, headed up by "Bewitched, Bothered And Bewildered" and "I Could Write A Book" and including such intriguing specialty numbers as "Zip".

Joey is an opportunistic cad, but he always seems to land on his feet. He elbows his way into a job at a seedy Chicago nightclub and is soon juggling the affections of a naïve chorus girl and a wealthy society dame who just happens to be married. Once Joey has charmed the socialite into setting him up in his own joint, he ditches the chorine and is riding high, playing the big-time operator. When a punk threatens to spill the whole business to the socialite's husband, she decides that she's bored with Joey anyway, dumping him and the club. Having had a taste of his own medicine, you'd think Joey would head back to the sweet kid who really loves him. Wrong. Some things never change, but you know what? He's still on his feet.

Set sail for laughter and adventure with Gilbert and Sullivan’s beloved comic opera! The Pirates of Penzance tells the hilarious tale of Frederic, a young pirate apprentice torn between duty and love, and the band of tender-hearted pirates who raised him. Packed with catchy tunes, clever wordplay, and absurd twists, this classic operetta is perfect for all ages. Don’t miss this swashbuckling romp full of romance, mistaken identities, and uproarious fun!

This lively production features some of the most iconic songs in operetta history, including “I Am the Pirate King”, “Poor Wand’ring One”, “With Cat-Like Tread” and the tongue-twisting “I Am the Very Model of a Modern Major-General.”

Eugene Opera brings back rising star Véronique Filloux as Mabel — the much-admired soprano who wowed audiences as Gilda in Rigoletto. Expert character actor David Macaluso, a member of the New York Gilbert and Sullivan Players, will portray Major General Stanley with international opera singer and Grammy award winner Victoria Livengood as Ruth. Local favorite Bill Hulings will swashbuckle his way through the role of the Pirate King, bringing charm and charisma to every scene.

Directed by Curt Olds and conducted by Andrew Bisantz, this joyful production also features the Eugene Opera Chorus and the Eugene Opera Orchestra.

The Corvallis Outdoor Farmers Markets operate every Saturday and Wednesday until the day before Thanksgiving, with a bonus market on Dec. 6.

Find fruits and vegetables, plants, or cut flowers, gathered and cultivated mushrooms, or are raising meat, poultry, eggs or honey.

What’s in season varies from week to week and is influenced by weather and production methods, including the tall greenhouses called “high tunnels” that some farmers use.

Albany Farmers' Market, believed to be the oldest continuous outdoor farmers' market in Oregon, is in its 48th season.

Markets continue through the Saturday before Thanksgiving, with a Dec. 13 bonus market capping the season.
